BlackSwanLake

It’s my backyard and a place of great beauty. It is my muse; it has inspired some of my academic writings around sense of place because it a space that allows with people to connect with many aspects of their “selves”–athlete, birdwatcher, family member, dog person, nature-lover, artist; it is a place that reminds people, who have emigrated from elsewhere, of “home,” it serves as a space that connects us all while allowing each person to be themselves and commune with urban nature in ways that are commensurate with identity and enjoyment. It is a very special place and, as a person who was born and raised in Brooklyn, a place that will always be a part of my Brooklyn soul.
